Helius works with Boomerang and EmPOWERment!

It's been a great seven weeks working with the amazing young adults from EmPOWERment and Boomerang. We were able to work with these adults for a few hours each week, helping them to create four business presentations to our panel of judges: Laura Fieselman, Lisa Long Jackson,Margot Carmichael Lester, Taylor Meyer, Dina Rousset, Deborah Stroman, and Chela Tu. 

With 5 minutes to present and 10 minutes of Q & A, the teams had a lot of information to deliver in a short amount of time. But in the end there could only be one team that made it to victory. Congratulations:

Diversity in Leadership training with CUBE Chapel Hill

The Helius Foundation has been lucky enough to host UNC's CUBE - Social Innovation Initiative, at our office at ReCity in Durham. Helius was working with CUBE to develop a one-day Diversity in Business Leadership workshop. We were able to speak openly about how diversity affects us in ways that we may not see. We were able to speak with CUBE participants about not only racial and religious diversity; but about experiential, value and even ability diversity and it's importance in the work place.

Helius would like to thank Laura Fieselman of CUBE, as well as all of the students involved. We had some great conversation and made some amazing headway. We have something that we can take out into the world.
